DARO: As Teachers Day draws near, a heart-warming story unfolds in the rural landscapes of Mukah, where a dedicated teacher has transformed a humble classroom into a welcoming cafe-like haven for students.

At SK Kut Daro, the teacher, Al Tarmizi, has taken the initiative to reimagine the learning environment for his students.

“I strive to create a conducive environment for my students to enjoy learning.

“Even in rural schools, I believe many fellow teachers out there do their best for their students. Many teachers are willing to spend their hard-earned money for their students’ development,” he shared on his Facebook recently.

Al Tarmizi’s commitment to enhancing the learning environment is not merely a professional duty but a personal investment as well.

He revealed that the colourful decorations adorning the classroom were funded from his own pocket, demonstrating his dedication to provide the best educational experience for his students.

“People often ask me where teachers’ salaries go. I use some rural allowances to beautify the classroom. If there’s extra, we do more.”

The transformation of the classroom into a cafe-inspired setting has not only captured attention on social media but has also earned admiration from both students and fellow educators.

The cozy corners, vibrant decorations, and welcoming atmosphere have brought smiles to the faces of students, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.

He also delved into his personal journey towards becoming a teacher, revealing a touching narrative that shaped his career path.

During his formative years, Al Tarmizi’s father was very interested in becoming a teacher, but unfortunately, he could only study until Primary Four.

“This sparked my interest in becoming a teacher to fulfil my father’s dream. I have 11 siblings, and I’m the eighth child. Praise be to God, eight of my siblings have chosen teaching as their career, while the others pursued their own paths.

“My journey to becoming a teacher was quite challenging, considering my exam results weren’t very good. Thanks to prayers and effort, I succeeded in becoming a teacher,” he added.
