SIBU: The challenges of recent years – from pandemic disruptions to the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in education – have demanded extraordinary adaptability.

Yet, the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Local Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee pointed out that the educators of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Kiang Hin have met these trials with unwavering commitment.

“Your perseverance, often unseen, is the quiet strength behind every student’s success,” he said at SJKC Kiang Hin’s Teachers’ Day celebration dinner held at a prominent hotel here on Thursday.

The Pelawan assemblyman took immense pride in the school’s s achievements.

It is the school teachers that mould the children’s future, he said, adding beyond textbooks and exams, they spark curiosity, build resilience, and instill values that last a lifetime, and their role is nothing short of transformative.

He stressed that the synergy between the School Management Board’s visionary support and the teaching team’s passion has created an exceptional learning environment.

This collaboration, he added, is a model for others to follow.

“Today, we celebrate not just your profession, but to show our appreciation on the contributions you had made to the school community and Sibu society.

“Students may forget the details of lessons, but they will always remember how you made them feel valued, capable, and inspired. That is the indelible mark of a great teacher.

“To the Board of Directors, thank you for your steadfast partnership. Education is a long-term endeavour, and your trust in this institution’s mission is its bedrock,” he asserted.

Tiang reaffirmed he will continue to champion the needs of the school, ensuring teachers have the tools and support they need to thrive.

Later, he announced a grant of RM10,000 for the SJKC Kiang Hin Board of Management.

Also present were Sibu Division Unity Officer, Jendri Mangku, Sibu Division Public Communication Unit (UKAS) Officer, Jelani Ajang, Sibu District Education Assistant Officer (Planning Sector), Goh Yee Chung, SJKC Kiang Hin Board of Management Chairman, Kapitan So Teck Kee, and SJKC Kiang Hing Headmaster, Ling Ing Kiong.
