KUCHING: Delegates at the 2023 Kuching Zone PBB Special Convention have expressed their aspirations for increased local development and decisive actions against escalating prices.

The convention, held at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre today, saw a turnout of about 1,400 PBB members from 26 local branches.

New Sarawak Tribune reached out to some of the attendees to gather their insights.

ABANG AFHI AFFANDI, 23,
PBB Samariang Youth Information Chief

We, the youth of PBB Samariang, want our opinions on economic development to be heard more by the top leaders of PBB. We also wish to grow and succeed under the guidance of our PBB leaders.

NORZANAH AHMAD, 40,
PBB Samariang Women member

In my four attendances at this convention, I hope our PBB president, Abang Johari, pays attention to our requests such as cost of living. In rural areas, we need better internet, water, and electricity. Also, roads like the one from Sukma to Bandar Baru Samariang need improvement.

ERINE GADUL, 53,
PBB Muara Tuang Women deputy chief

I hope the PBB president approves the resolutions proposed during this convention. Issues like the weak water supply in Muara Tuang should get attention.

GABRIEL JATU, 40,
PBB Mambong Youth secretary

This convention fully supports the Premier. We aim to see Sarawak flourish under Abang Johari’s leadership. For Mambong, we wish to enhance the locals’ socio-economic status and improve internet access. Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin has also highlighted this in the resolutions. The hope is for the government to aid in resolving this.
