BINTULU: Delfina Damun Kiran was crowned ‘Kumang Gawai Dayak Bintulu 2025’ during the Bintulu Division-Level Pre-Gawai Dinner event held at Dinner World Bintulu Restaurant on Saturday evening.
The 25-year-old Bidayuh woman’s victory earned her a cash prize of RM3,000, along with a trophy, tiara, sash, floral bouquet and certificate of participation.

Amyder Midey Drake, who secured the ‘Lulong Gawai Dayak Bintulu’ title (first runner-up), received RM2,500, a trophy, sash, floral bouquet and certificate.
Meanwhile, Zeona Dear Jaacob claimed the ‘Selinggar Matahari Gawai Dayak Bintulu’ title (second runner-up), winning RM1,500, a trophy, sash, floral bouquet, and certificate.
The prizes were presented by Datin Seri Melia Gelen, the wife of the Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department cum Kakus Assemblyman, Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai, and Datin Evelyn Ensanggai, wife of the Infrastructure and Port Development Deputy Minister cum Samalaju Assemblyman, Datuk Majang Renggi.
Six contestants participated in the Kumang Gawai competition at the Bintulu Division-Level 2025 Pre-Gawai Celebration Dinner that was officiated by Sikie.
Organised under the theme ‘Segulai Sejalai’ (Together in Unity), the event was coordinated by the Bintulu Division Gawai Dayak Celebration Committee, led by chairman, Thomas Nyaring Mawan.
In addition to the ‘Kumang Gawai’ contest, the evening featured cultural performances by Dayak communities and ethnic groups, as well as live performances by a local Iban singer, Linda Simai.
