DALAT: Deputy Health Minister and Mukah MP, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib has stepped up efforts to assess healthcare needs in rural Sarawak through a visit to the Nanga Baoh Health Clinic.
The visit on Friday (Sept. 4) formed part of the fourth series of the Sarawak Borneo Health Tour in Mukah Division, where Hanifah and her delegation travelled for two hours to reach the clinic.
The visit enabled her to gain a firsthand look at the clinic’s daily operations, facilities and challenges in delivering healthcare services to the surrounding community.
The Nanga Baoh Health Clinic serves residents from nine main longhouses, with the majority of its patients coming from the Iban community.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the clinic’s operational needs, including the condition of its building, facilities and equipment, as well as manpower requirements and challenges faced by healthcare personnel.
Hanifah also visited the staff quarters, which provide accommodation for healthcare personnel stationed at the clinic.
Several issues requiring further attention and follow-up action by the relevant authorities were identified during the visit.
To support improvements at the clinic, Hanifah allocated RM5,000 for infrastructure and safety enhancements.
The visit also highlighted the need for continued improvements in manpower, facilities and logistical support to ensure healthcare services in rural areas can be delivered more efficiently.
