KUCHING: The state government has development plans for all races regardless of their backgrounds, said Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“We have our development plan for the Malay community and we also have the plan to redevelop our Chinese community areas including those in Padungan.

“We have also established the Upper Rajang Development Agency chaired by Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing and Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi to develop the Iban community in Kapit until the Hulu Rajang.

“We also have the Highland Development Agency chaired by Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas for the Kelabits and Orang Ulu,” he said.

Johari added that the state government was taking care of and helping all the races.

“Do not raise issues on the races as we just want to focus on community development,” he said in his speech at the “Qurban Perdana Takaful Ikhlas Berhas” (sacrifice of animals ceremony held in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha)  at Masjid Darul Hana, Kampung Patingan here yesterday.

Earlier on, Johari said Sarawak needed a systematic and modern urban development programme in line with the rapid development   of the state.

“In this regard, the government has plans to develop Satok as a new business district. A modern twin tower is being built  at the former Bina Mara site at Jalan Haji Taha here. It will be completed by 2021,” he said.

Meanwhile, Takaful Ikhlas Berhad’s Chairman, Sharkawi Alis said that the company had contributed 14 cattle to be sacrificed and about 1000 meat packages would be distributed to 14   company branches in Satok.

He added that since it began operating in Sarawak in 2007, Takaful Ikhlas Berhad had received continuous support from the community.
