KUCHING: A total of 140 female entrepreneurs took part in the Dewanita BIZNET 2025 Business Networking Forum held at a hotel here today.

Organised by Dewanita Pusat and chaired by Dr Sharifah Suzana Wan Shukran, the half-day event aimed to link seasoned mentors with emerging entrepreneurs while strengthening peer support networks.

Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) President, Datuk Abang Halmi Ikhwan, who officiated the forum, described it as not only uniting women entrepreneurs but also inspiring them.

Abang Halmi delivers his speech.

“We are all here because of our determination to succeed and break boundaries. Each of us has unique strengths, talents and visions. In today’s competitive world, we must realise that success does not come easily. It demands effort, dedication and support from one another,” he said.

He urged participants to use their strengths to guide and support each other, noting that networking is more crucial than ever.

“Through the connections we build today, we are not only fostering cooperation but also creating a brighter future for ourselves and future generations. A strong network can open doors, help us overcome challenges, and provide guidance on our journey,” he added.

Encouraging active participation, he advised attendees to engage with speakers, ask questions and share ideas.

“Every idea has the potential to spark great change. Let us make this forum a platform that benefits us all,” he said.

In her welcoming remarks, Sharifah said the forum sought to enhance networking and visibility among women entrepreneurs.

“Among our objectives is to empower women entrepreneurs through the insights shared today, raise the visibility of our successful members, facilitate business connections and foster a conducive, inclusive climate for all, regardless of background or business type. We must stay connected and network with each other,” she said.

A highlight of the programme was the panel discussion ‘Empowering Women in Male-Dominated Fields’, featuring Aishah Othman, an expert in Mechanical, Electrical and Engineering; Fitriah Rahbi, an oil and gas specialist; and Philomena Dexclyn Siar, a sports professional.

The forum also included a corporate sharing session with PERKESO, which provided insights into social protection schemes and support for business growth and employee welfare.
