KUCHING: SMK Demak Baru has become the first school in Borneo to host the Pandai school tour, a digital learning initiative introduced by the Ministry of Education to boost the use of technology and AI in classrooms.

The tour is part of the Rakan DeLima programme held on June 17 and 18 at SMK Demak Baru, and on June 20 at SK Tambay.

It supports the government’s goal to strengthen digital learning across public schools in Sarawak under the Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia (DeliMa), developed by the Ministry in collaboration with the Educational Technology and Learning Sector (SSTP).

On the first day, teachers attended a special In-Service Training (LADAP) session to learn about the “Pandai Teacher” app, a platform that helps educators manage syllabus-based questions, track student performance, and support digital teaching more effectively.

On the second day, students took part in a motivational talk and an AI workshop, where they were introduced to the Pandai app featuring thousands of practice questions, gamified rewards, learning analytics, and AI-powered self-learning tools.

This initiative also supports Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which aims to drive growth through digital education and innovation.

In addition, Pandai is working with the Sarawak Economic Development Foundation (TEGAS) to promote education across the state.

Their upcoming participation in the SCaT Fair and Pro-DR Roadshow in July and August will include activities designed to make learning more interactive and effective for students throughout Sarawak.

Students pose for a group photo during the programme.
