KUCHING: The Sarawak government is exploring a proposed Digital Inclusion Platform aimed at improving accessibility and socioeconomic outcomes for persons with disabilities through data-driven digital innovation.
Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah received a courtesy visit from a delegation led by Prof Dr Ida Fatimawati Adi Badiozaman of Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus and Prof Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), during which the proposal and its projected impact were presented.
The initiative focuses on leveraging digital technologies to support inclusive development, with an emphasis on integrating the perspectives and needs of persons with disabilities into policy planning and programme implementation.
Fatimah welcomed the proposal and underscored the importance of close collaboration between the government, academic institutions and industry partners to advance digital inclusion and enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities in Sarawak.
She said such partnerships are crucial to ensuring that innovation-driven solutions remain inclusive, practical and responsive to community needs.
The courtesy visit reflected a shared commitment by all parties to strengthen cooperation and pursue innovative approaches that contribute to sustainable and equitable development in the state.
