KUCHING: The Sarawak government is further advancing its digital inclusivity efforts by ensuring that all citizens receive fair access to learning opportunities and personal development in today’s technology-driven education landscape.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, said that rapid technological progress has reshaped the way education is delivered, creating a need for stronger digital infrastructure that can link every school, including those in remote areas.

“Through digital connectivity, we empower teachers and students to go beyond the boundaries of the classroom.

“This is why digital inclusivity is at the core of our transformation agenda because knowledge, when access to it is opened, becomes something more equitable,” he said.

He said this in his speech at the ‘Hornbill Foundation: No Kid Left Behind’ event here today.

In line with Sarawak’s modernisation efforts, he added that the Sarawak government is preparing its people for future jobs in renewable energy, digital services, artificial intelligence and green technology.

He said that to seize these opportunities, Sarawak’s youth must be equipped with technical skills, creativity and global awareness.

“We must view education not only as a social responsibility but also as a strategic investment.

“The knowledge and skills we nurture today will determine Sarawak’s competitiveness in the future because when we educate a child, we are not only transforming one life, we are building a better Sarawak,” he said.

At the same event, he also witnessed the presentation of cheques to the Hornbill Foundation to support the foundation’s efforts in helping more students, especially those in rural areas, gain access to education.
