KUCHING: The Digital Ministry will continue to strengthen the country’s creative content sector, including in Sarawak, through various strategic initiatives.
Deputy Digital Minister Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong said the ministry’s mission is clear in its efforts to empower creators, strengthen the ecosystem, and position Malaysia as a digital content powerhouse.
“Through the Creative Content Fund (DKK), the ministry supports the development and production of high-quality content that is ready for market.
“The ministry, via MDEC, also implements structured training programmes that provide guidance and industry matching to ensure local talents have the necessary skills,” he said.
He said this in his speech during the Launching of KRE8TIF! East 2025: Empowering Tomorrow’s Creative, Today, here today (May 14).
“We are also committed to expanding market access by providing platforms for local creators to penetrate regional and international markets.
“This effort aligns with the country’s aspirations – the digital creative sector is expected to contribute more than RM31.9 billion to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) this year,” he added.
