KUCHING: A technology training course in collaboration with Microsoft is being planned for the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency.
Its MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof who is Deputy Prime Minister said it is aimed to equip community leaders, educators, youth, and business owners with essential digital skills, including artificial intelligence (AI) mastery.
“The current era is the era of technology. Therefore, we need community leadership, our educators, and everyone, really, to have access to technology.
“That is why, for the Petra Jaya area, we are proposing to hold a course in collaboration with Microsoft. One of our main focuses is on how we can master AI and other technologies so that we can connect and use technology for good, as technology is also being used for negative purposes nowadays,” he said.
He said this after handing over yearly grants to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), Mosque and Surau in the constituency at SK Merpati Jepang Hall, here on Saturday.

Fadillah emphasised that by understanding the proper use of technology, the community can avoid falling victim to cyber threats while maximising digital tools for education, business, and administration.
“If we know the best way to use technology for good, whether it is to disseminate information for management purposes and so on, at the same time, we must also understand how technology is misused.
“Once we identify that, we can prevent our community from falling victim to scams, online fraud, or the misuse of technology in various ways.
“There are so many technologies that can be misused today, and we need to understand them. That is the goal and purpose. If everyone is able to master it, our society will become more competitive and resilient,” he explained.
Earlier in his speech, Fadillah warned about the rapid advancement of AI, explaining that AI has evolved to the point where it can replicate faces and voices with extreme accuracy.
“Imagine if an AI-generated version of me appeared in a video saying something that could incite conflict or division among people.
“Some might believe it is real, even though it is completely false. This is the reality of today’s technology, and it can be misused to manipulate and mislead society,” said Fadillah.
