KUCHING: Discipline, integrity and teamwork must continue to be upheld within the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said discipline remained the foundation of the police force.
“Strong discipline is essential in ensuring officers carry out their duties effectively and professionally.
“Therefore, all officers are urged to comply with regulations, maintain professionalism, be punctual and carry out their duties with integrity,” he said this during the district police headquarters’ (IPD) monthly assembly on Tuesday (May 12).
He also reminded personnel to avoid any misconduct that could tarnish the image of the force and affect public confidence in PDRM.
Aside from discipline, he called on officers in Kuching IPD to practise prudent spending in the management and administration matters, including responsible use of government allocations, assets and facilities.
He said avoiding wastage was important amid rising global fuel prices, adding that a thrifty attitude reflected responsibility as public servants entrusted with government property.
Alexson urged all division chiefs and police station chiefs to instil teamwork and unity among personnel under their supervision.
“Investigating officers are reminded to keep complainants updated on the progress of cases under investigation as it was their responsibility to investigate every police report received thoroughly,” he said.
He also cautioned personnel against sharing official departmental information without authorisation, including on social media.
In dealing with viral and sensitive issues, every member of the force must be more careful, wise in assessing information, and refrain from making statements that could jeopardise the image of the department and national security.
