KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) will emphasise on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), digital economy and education development during its 14th convention from Feb 8-11.
According to the party’s secretary-general, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi, MA63 is the most important among the three motions and opinions from individual members will be sought.
He said all members will have the chance to voice out their opinions on MA63, to be forwarded to the federal government for consideration.
“That is why we are bringing the matter to the convention for discussion. We want to get back our rights that were eroded, through negotiation.
“Therefore, I think this convention is very important for PBB members to give the mandate to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to continue to get back what are ours,” said Rundi during the media conference on PBB’s 14th convention held at Borneo Convention Center Kuching (BCCK), yesterday.
Rundi noted that Sarawakians are looking forward to the result of the MA63 negotiation and devolution of powers initiated by the late Tok Nan.
“We are responsible for looking after the rights of Sarawakians and we are also responsible for maintaining the existing harmonious environment.
“It is good for us to work out a proper channel in order to achieve what we want to do,” he said.
On another matter, Rundi said PBB as a party is showing stability in terms of leadership. This could be seen from the several ‘no-contest’ posts.
“I believe PBB’s future is stable and bright. Some of the members, although not actively serving or having any party position, are contributing their services voluntarily and this augurs well for the future,” he added.
