BAU: A dispute over unpaid wages and motorcycle rental payments turned violent in the early hours of Tuesday (Jun 2), leaving three men injured, including one who was allegedly attacked with a samurai sword.

The incident occurred at around 12.15am at a road junction in Kampung Skibang, when a 42-year-old man and his 48-year-old friend went to meet a 40-year-old suspect to discuss wages and motorcycle rental fees that were allegedly owed.

Upon arriving at the junction leading to Kampung Skibang, the suspect allegedly emerged from a vehicle armed with a samurai sword and attacked the victims.

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the 42-year-old victim sustained injuries to his left shoulder, left ear and two fingers.

“He underwent treatment and remains warded at Sarawak General Hospital, where he is scheduled for surgery.

“His friend suffered a wound to his left arm that required 15 stitches and has since been discharged from hospital.

“The suspect also sustained a head injury requiring 14 stitches and remains warded at Bau Hospital,” he said.

Also seized were a 60cm samurai sword, a 40cm machete and a 70cm iron rod — all of which are believed to be linked to the incident.

Preliminary investigations found that all individuals involved were believed to have been under the influence of alcohol during the incident.

The case is being investigated under Sections 148 and 326 of the Penal Code.

Mohd Haide said police have arrested the suspect and are awaiting forensic and medical reports.
