KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court has set March 17 for the re-mention of a murder case involving a local man accused of killing Nurul Asikin Lan, also known as Amoy, last year.

Magistrate Sharifah Fatimah Azura Wan Alwi fixed the date following an application for a postponement of the case mention from deputy public prosecutor Jean Siow Chung Hwei.

Prosecution requested more time as they are awaiting the DNA report and autopsy results on the 28-year-old’s body, which are still pending.

On Dec 15, the victim’s decomposed body was found in a drain area on Jalan Setia Raja, Tabuan Jaya.

During today’s proceedings, about 10 family members of the victim were present to hear the development of the case.

The accused, 23-year-old Zakwan Mokhtar, had previously only nodded in understanding when the charge — framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder — was read to him.
