MIRI:  Two pet dogs from two different families here, prevented venomous snakes from entering their owners’ houses on Saturday night (Oct 31).

In the first incident, a one-foot-long snake was spotted curling behind a flower pot at a house at Vista Perdana in Permyjaya.

The house’s owner, aged 51, sensed something was not right when he heard his dog barking non-stop in the car porch.

“Curious, I went outside and was shocked to find a snake hiding behind a flower pot in the porch area,” said the man who wished to be anonymous.

He immediately called the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) for assistance around 9pm.

Nearly one hour later, around 10.48pm, in Kampung Luak 3A, a house owner also came across a poisonous snake in his car porch after he heard his dog bark non-stop.

APM personnel also rushed to the scene after alerted on the incident.

They removed a three-foot-long poisonous snake from the car porch.
