KUCHING: The Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Blood Bank is calling on healthy and eligible individuals to step forward and donate blood to help patients in urgent need.

Blood donation plays a vital role in saving lives and the hospital requires an average of 70 pints of blood daily to meet the demands of patients undergoing treatment or emergency procedures.

“The public is encouraged to take part in this life-saving act and help maintain the stability of the blood supply.

“The Blood Bank is appealing especially to those who are between 18 and 60 years of age, weigh at least 45 kilogrammes, and are in good health without any infectious diseases,” it said in a press statement on Friday.

It emphasised that blood donation was not only safe but also a noble act of compassion that could make a real difference.

“Donating blood saves lives. We urge the public to come forward and help ensure that no life is lost due to blood shortages,” it said.

Members of the public seeking more information or wishing to schedule a donation are encouraged to contact the SGH Blood Bank at 082-276797.
