KUCHING: State civil servants have been urged to embrace the Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) One Team spirit by fostering collaboration and innovation across departments and agencies to ensure the successful implementation of the state’s development agenda.

State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki stressed that no department, agency, or officer should operate in silos.

Instead, he stressed the importance of teamwork, urging civil servants to function as a unified entity, supporting one another to achieve Sarawak’s development goals.

“2025 marks the final year of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP). Therefore, all planned projects and initiatives must be executed efficiently and completed on schedule.

“Infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges are crucial in enhancing the people’s quality of life,” he said in his address on Monday (Feb 17).

Abu Bakar also highlighted the need for department heads to be proactive by personally monitoring the progress of 12MP projects rather than relying solely on reports.

“They are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of their respective departments and must take a hands-on approach in addressing challenges,” he said.

He reminded civil servants that their roles extend beyond employment, describing public service as a trust that demands dedication, honesty, and integrity.

Abu Bakar also called for self-reflection and continuous improvement among civil servants to enhance the effectiveness of government policies.

“Let us work together as one team, collaborate, and innovate for the progress of Sarawak. May all our efforts be blessed,” he added.
