KUCHING: Double champion Muhammad Raqeeb Azizan stole the spotlight at the DBKU X-Games 2025 by winning both the Open and Street U-18 skateboarding events, while the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) revealed plans for a larger five-day event next April.
The competition, held at the Sarawak Stadium grounds from Nov 29-30, gathered skaters and provided a platform for rising talents to showcase their skills in extreme sports.
Raqeeb delivered a standout performance in the Skateboard Open category, scoring 5.95 points to secure the top spot ahead of David Adam (5.77) and Addin (3.90).
He later returned to dominate the U-18 category with a commanding 10.57-point run. Muhammad Ruzain Azizan placed second with 4.22 points, while Daniel Aaron finished third with 3.19.
DBKU mayor Datuk Hilmy Othman said the event continues to play a crucial role in developing the city’s extreme sports community.
Speaking at a press conference, he emphasised DBKU’s goal of elevating the X-Games to a larger scale in the coming years.
“This event gives our young athletes meaningful exposure and prepares them for higher levels of competition.
“We hope to further strengthen cooperation with organisers and expand extreme sports development in Kuching,” he said during the press conference today (Nov 30) at the Sarawak Stadium grounds.
Hilmy confirmed that the next edition of the DBKU X-Games is scheduled for April 2026 and will take place over five days at the Kuching Waterfront and Padang Merdeka.
He also said that DBKU is working with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurial Development to broaden participation and increase the event’s reach, with aspirations to grow it into a national or international-level competition.
