SPAOH: The Sarawak government’s plan to set up its own boutique airline will further boost its tourism industry, state Assistant Transport Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil believes.

“We already have Hornbill Skyways, which is complete with a commercial flight licence.

“But what (Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri) Abang Johari (Tun Openg) has planned will be complementary to ensure that the tourism industry in Sarawak is more vibrant with the availability of direct flights from foreign countries,” he said on Tuesday (Nov 30).

In this regard, he hoped that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) would be given the mandate in the 12th Sarawak Election so that what was planned for the development of Sarawak could be realised.

Earlier, Dr Jerip accompanied Abang Johari to the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ programme and earth-breaking ceremony for the Short Take-off and Landing Airport (STOLport) project in Bebuling.
