THE Sarawak Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the growing infrastructure needs and rising expectations of the public, particularly in rural areas such as Lingga and Stakan.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said infrastructure is not just about roads and drains it’s about improving quality of life and safety for our people, especially in rural areas,
“We are committed to ensuring that every ringgit spent brings real benefit to the rakyat.” he said.
He said this in his ministerial winding-up speech during the DUN Sitting here today (May 27).
Dr Sim who is also Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government said in 2025, the Sri Aman District Council was allocated a total of RM3.7 million from its own fund for development and maintenance works.

“In addition, RM10.3 million has been allocated under the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS) for road maintenance, and RM6.3 million for programmes and development projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP). This represents a 37 percent increase in total expenditure compared to 2024,”he said.
In addressing the shortage of manpower at Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), he said the Office of the Premier of Sarawak, through the Human Resource Management and Development Unit (HRDM), is currently reviewing the structure and functions of all Sarawak Government agencies.
“The restructuring of local authorities, including MPKS, will proceed upon completion of this exercise. In the meantime, technical personnel have been deployed by the ministry to assist MPKS in implementing and delivering its projects since 2019,” he said.
