THE Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government will continue identifying housing needs across all districts in Sarawak to better address demand for affordable homes, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
The Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister said his ministry, through the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), has used an approach to analyse and prioritise the developments based on the applications made to HDC.

“As of March 2025, 18,922 applicants had registered with the HDC throughout Sarawak for affordable housing,” he said in his ministerial winding up speech during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting here today.
He added that under the Mutiara scheme, it has received 2,094 home financing applications as of Apr 30.
From the total number, he said 63 applications or 3.01 per cent were rejected due to various reasons such as the applicant’s income exceeding the income limit required, a bankrupt applicant and not a first-time home buyer.
