MIRI: A man cheated death when the car he was driving collided with a lorry at Jalan Miri-Bintulu here around 1pm yesterday. The 40-year-old victim sustained only minor injuries. A source said the victim was travelling alone from the city centre to Bekenu.
“The man was said to have lost control of the car he was driving before the car collided with the lorry coming from the opposite direction. “The impact of the collision caused the front of the car to be badly damaged and also moved several metres to the road shoulder,” the source said.
A team from the Fire and Rescue Services Department (BOMBA) managed to extricate the victim from the car. The injured car driver was then taken to Miri Hospital for treatment. The lorry driver escaped unhurt. The police are investigating the actual cause of the accident.
