LAWAS: A local man was killed after a piling machine fell onto his pickup truck near Kampung Peruan, Jalan Long Tuma, here yesterday (Dec 7).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) confirmed the identity of the victim as Bili Muli, 31.
The accident happened at around 4.55 pm, prompting firefighters from Lawas station to be dispatched to the scene, about 8km away.
Upon arrival, they found the piling machine (drilling rig) resting on the vehicle, with the victim trapped in the driver’s seat.
Extrication works were immediately carried out using road traffic accident (RTA) equipment.
Paramedics later confirmed the victim died at the scene and his body was handed over to the police for further action.
The operation ended at 6.45pm.
