Driver dies as palm oil tanker plunges into ravine

KUCHING: Following a distress call received at 10.48am yesterday relating to a road accident at Jalan Samarakan at a junction to Sg Emas, Bintulu, Bintulu BOMBA immediately dispatched eight personnel in two vehicles led by PBK II Mustapha bin Wasli to the location.

Upon arrival at the location the BOMBA personnel found a tanker carrying palm oil had plunged into a 50-metre deep ravine with the driver pinned to his seat.

The BOMBA personnel then tried to extricate and save the tanker driver but he had passed away.

The remains of the deceased identified as Zambry bin Manan, 41, were later handed over to the police at 12 noon for their further action.
