Driver injured after being ejected from vehicle in morning crash

KUCHING: A local man was injured after being flung from his vehicle during a collision along Jalan Diplomatik this morning.

The 28-year-old, who was driving a Perodua Axia, sustained a head wound and was found unconscious at the scene following the crash with a Toyota Hilux around 4 am.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), firefighters from Petra Jaya station was dispatched to the scene, about 7km away, after receiving an emergency call.

Upon arrival, they administered initial treatment to the injured driver before he was rushed to the hospital for further medical attention.

Firefighters also conducted flushing works to clear debris from the road before concluding the operation at 4.50 am.

Efforts to obtain further updates on the victim’s condition are ongoing, with no official response from the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Hilux driver reportedly escaped unscathed in the accident.
