BINTULU: A 31-year-old man suffered a fractured right leg after the car he was driving rear-ended a container lorry at Kampung Jepak traffic light junction here early this morning.

The collision involved a black compact sedan that rammed into a lorry.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a distress call was received shortly after midnight, and a team from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival at 12:21 am, rescuers found the man of the vehicle trapped in the driver’s seat, while the lorry driver was uninjured.

Firefighters used rescue tools to extricate the victim before handing him over to medical personnel from Nyabau Hospital for further treatment.

Nine fire personnel were involved in the operation, which ended at 12:53 am.

Two police officers and two medical staff from the Ministry of Health also assisted at the scene.

Firefighters later conducted cleanup work at the crash site before returning to the station.
