BINTANGOR: A lorry driver sustained a minor leg injury after his vehicle rear-ended a stationary lorry along Jalan Pakan last night (May 17).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Bintangor station were dispatched to the scene, about 51km away, following an emergency call at 9.41 pm.
Upon arrival, they found the 38-year-old driver trapped in the cabin and unable to move due to his injury. Firefighters stabilised the victim before extricating him from the vehicle.
He was later handed over to paramedics for on-site treatment and subsequently taken to the hospital for further care.
Meanwhile, the other lorry driver escaped unharmed in the accident.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the injured driver was heading from Bintangor to Pakan when the crash occurred. The stationary lorry had reportedly stopped by the roadside due to mechanical issues.
Before wrapping up the operation at 11.15 pm, the team conducted flushing works to clean up oil spills and ensure the safety of other road users.
