BINTANGOR: A lorry driver and his attendant had a close call with death after their vehicle skidded and crashed along Jalan Tulai this morning (June 25).

Both of them, in their 30s, were heading to Sibu when their vehicle skidded out of control at around 9:00 am, causing it to veer off the road and crash to the roadside.

The impact left the driver’s legs trapped in his seat while his attendant escaped unharmed.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Bintangor station were dispatched to the scene, about 18 kilometres away, following an emergency call.

Rescuers extricated the injured victim using a hydraulic tool before handing him over to paramedics for further treatment.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 11:38 am.
