SIMANGGANG: A lorry driver was injured after his vehicle, loaded with oil palm fruits, was involved in an accident with a compact hatchback vehicle at Batu Lintang junction, Sri Aman, last night.
Preliminary findings reported that the accident occurred when the vehicle rammed into the rear of the lorry.
The male vehicle driver escaped unharmed in the incident.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said a distress call was received at 9:45 pm, and personnel from their Sri Aman station was dispatched to the scene, located about 12 kilometres away.
Arriving at the scene, rescuing team found that the lorry driver, who sustained injuries, was already taken to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment by members of the public.
Meanwhile, no rescue operations were required, and firefighters carried out flushing works at the scene before returning to the station.
