Driver injured in early morning tree crash

SIBU: A local man was injured after his pick-up truck skidded and crashed into a tree along Jalan Deshon early this morning.

The accident occurred around 6.15 am near SMK Rosli Dhobi and left the 35-year-old driver with an injury to his right leg.

Fortunately, he was not trapped in the vehicle but needed assistance to get out.

Firefighters from Sungai Merah station were deployed to the scene, about 5km away, following an emergency call.

Upon arrival, the team disconnected the vehicle’s battery to prevent any further incident.

They assisted paramedics in installing a cervical collar around the victim’s neck and fitting a lower limb splint on the victim’s right leg.

He was later taken to Sibu Hospital for further treatment.

The operation ended at 6.52 am.
