Driver, passenger injured after car hits flyover pillar

PADAWAN: A driver and his passenger were injured after their car skidded and crashed onto a flyover pillar near the Mile 10 traffic light intersection today.

The incident, which occurred around 2:35 pm, involved a Proton Saga Aeroback believed to have lost control before hitting the concrete side of the structure.

The 32-year-old driver managed to exit the vehicle on his own, while the 46-year-old passenger required assistance from emergency responders.

Firefighters from Siburan station were dispatched to the scene, about 18 kilometres away, following an emergency call.

Upon arrival, the team extricated the passenger safely and moved him to a secure area for initial assessment.

Both victims sustained minor injuries and received first aid at the scene before being sent to the hospital for further treatment.

The rescue operation ended at 4:13 pm.
