SIBU: A local driver suffered serious injuries early yesterday morning (June 1) when his pick-up truck skidded out of control and collided with a stationary lorry along Jalan Wawasan.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Sungai Merah station were promptly dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 1.54 am.

Upon arrival, they confirmed that the victim was trapped in his seat after crashing into a damaged lorry parked by the roadside. Firefighters used specialized rescue tools to extricate him from the wreckage.

The 49-year-old man, who had lost consciousness and sustained serious injuries, was quickly handed over to paramedics to be transported to the hospital for urgent medical care. The extent of his injuries is not known.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded their operation at 2.36 am.
