SIBU: A driver and his passenger narrowly escaped a fiery death when their car burst into flames after it allegedly skidded off the road and ended in the bushes along Jalan Deshon on Wednesday (April 30).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said both individuals, whose identities were not known, managed to escape unharmed in the accident.

Firefighters from the Sibu central station were dispatched to the scene following an emergency call at 10.44am.

Upon arrival, they found the Hyundai Matrix engulfed in flames and performed extinguishing work.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team wrapped up the operation.

Meanwhile, at 11.31am in Bau, firefighters from the Bau station were dispatched to Stadium Mini Bau after receiving a distress call about a car fire.

Upon arrival, they found a parked Perodua Myvi destroyed in the fire and promptly extinguished the flames.
