SIBU: The Ministry of Health Training Institute (Nursing) Sibu (ILKKM Sibu) held an anti-drug talk as a continuous effort to produce healthy human capital that are not only competent but also have strong identity and integrity.
The programme, which took place at its premises on Thursday (Jan 22), involved 47 Diploma in Nursing (Pre-Service) trainees for the January 2026 intake, with a focus on strengthening the value of integrity and early exposure to the dangers of drug abuse and illicit substances.
The programme is the result of strategic cooperation between ILKKM Sibu and the Sibu District National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in line with the government’s efforts to curb drug abuse among the younger generation, especially prospective health workers.
According to Sibu District AADK, in addition to the trainees, the talk session was also attended by the institute’s clinical instructors and trainers.
The presence of ILKKM Sibu staff reflects the institution’s commitment in creating a drug-free educational environment and supporting the national aspiration of “Controlled Drugs 2030”.
“In the talk delivered, Sibu District AADK stressed the important role of nurses as the frontline of the health system that often interact with various levels of society.
“Therefore, early exposure to drug issues is considered critical to ensure that prospective nurses are not trapped by negative influences while also being able to act as agents conveying accurate information to the community,” it stated in a post on its social media.
During the programme, 44 trainees registered as members of the Anti-Drug Squad, proving their high commitment in supporting drug prevention efforts at the institutional and community levels.
“It is hoped that such programme can become a strong defense for the trainees, thus producing ILKKM graduates who are disciplined, visionary and free from negative elements for the well-being of the country”, the statement added.
