KABONG: A suspected drug peddler found himself cornered at Empayang oil palm plantation when narcotics police caught him in possession of alleged dangerous drugs.
Codenamed ‘Ops Tapis’, a special task force raided the scene on Friday following information on drug activities in the area.
Saratok Police Chief, DSP Mathew Manggie, said the 25-year-old was detained for inspections as he was suspected of being involved in distributing drugs.
“It led to the discovery of two plastic packets containing substance believed to be syabu, weighing around 0.7 grammes, from his wallet. Both the suspect and drugs were taken to Saratok Police Station for further action,” he said.
Mathew said the suspect has no prior records and his urine test returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(3) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessing and abusing drugs.
