MERADONG: A 20-year-old man was arrested during ‘Ops Tapis’ in Bintangor on Friday (Feb 20) and he was later tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Meradong police chief, DSP Tansli Mering, said the suspect was detained at about 3.25 pm by the Meradong police district headquarters (IPD) task force team while they were conducting the operations in the area.
He said a urine screening carried out at the Meradong National Anti-Drugs Agency office confirmed the suspect was positive for both substances.
“Checks also found that the suspect has one previous drug-related record,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Tansli urged the public to provide information on drug-related activities in the district to Bintangor police at 084-693222.
