KUCHING: A special sitting of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) has been scheduled for July 7, according to Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Dr Sim confirmed that he had received notification of the sitting but clarified that he has not been briefed on the specific agenda or purpose of the session.

“You’ll have to ask the Premier of Sarawak (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg),” he told reporters.

He said this to reporters after attending the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), Sarikei District Council (MDS), and Urbanice Malaysia.

The partnership is aimed at advancing the Voluntary Local Review (VLR) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at Hilton Hotel here on Friday.

“We were informed there will be a special DUN sitting on July 7 but the Premier will be the one to table the matter, not me. So I do not have any details at this point,” he said.

Dr Sim also mentioned that the special sitting is expected to take place for one day only.

Earlier, an official notice issued by DUN Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, confirmed that the Second Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (Special Sitting) will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 9:00 am.
