LUNDU: A driver and his passenger narrowly escaped death after surviving a harrowing car crash with injuries along Jalan Lundu-Sampadi yesterday (Aug 12).
The accident happened around 6.25pm when their car skidded off the road and crashed into a ditch near the Felda Sampadi palm oil mill.
A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Lundu station were deployed to the scene, some 20 kilometres away from their station.
On arrival, the team administered initial treatment to the injured victims, aged 47 and 63, one of whom was lying in the ditch and the other in the car following the mishap.
Both victims were later taken to Lundu Hospital for further medical attention.
The full extent of their injuries remains undisclosed.
After ensuring that the situation was safe, the team concluded the operation and returned to their station.
