KUCHING: A 41-year-old man was arrested with 6.4kg of cannabis in a raid at Kampung Semariang Baru on Wednesday (Mar 25).
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspect was detained at about 2.20pm during an operation by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department.
“Initial urine screening found him positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and THC, while checks showed he had no prior criminal record,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment upon conviction.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days until April 2 to assist investigations.
In a separate raid at Jalan Sultan Tengah, Santubong, police arrested a 30-year-old man and seized 5.50 grammes of methamphetamine worth RM605.
He tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, and was found to have six prior criminal records.
“The suspect is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and has been remanded for four days until March 30,” said Alexson.
