KUCHING: The 29th edition of the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) will return from June 26 to 28 at the iconic Sarawak Cultural Village, set against the scenic backdrop of Mount Santubong.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said the venue has long been synonymous with the globally renowned festival.
“The Sarawak Cultural Village has long been the home of the festival, where audiences gather each year to celebrate music from around the world,” he said when officiating at the RMWF launch event today.
Abdul Karim pointed out that the location reflects the very spirit of the festival itself, where culture, heritage and nature exist side by side.
Within the rainforest surroundings of the cultural village, he said, music takes on a different dimension as performances are experienced not merely on a stage but within a living cultural landscape that reflects the traditions and communities of Sarawak.
“This distinctive setting has helped shape the identity of the Rainforest World Music Festival as one of the most immersive music festivals in the world,” he added.
Meanwhile, he also announced that tickets for RWMF 2026 will officially go on sale beginning on March 13 through the festival’s ticketing platform, TicketMelon.
To provide greater flexibility for festivalgoers, tickets will be released in several phases.
The Early Bird phase, running from March 13 to 31, will offer promotional pricing with adult one-day passes priced at RM235, while the adult three-day pass will be available at RM635.
This will be followed by the Pre-Sale phase from April 1 until June 25, where adult one-day passes will be priced at RM283 and the three-day pass at RM765.
During the festival itself, from June 26 to 28, door sale prices will be RM333 for the adult one-day pass and RM835 for the adult three-day pass.
For families attending the festival, children aged four to 12 years old will be able to purchase a one-day pass at RM80, while children below the age of three will enjoy free entry.
Festivalgoers will also have the option of purchasing tickets through Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) payment platforms such as Atome, GrabPayLater and ShopeePayLater.
Abdul Karim said the initiative reflects the organisers’ efforts to make the festival more accessible while adapting to the evolving digital lifestyle of travellers and music enthusiasts.
“This allows festivalgoers greater convenience and flexibility when planning their festival experience,” he said.
