SANTUBONG: The performances by the legendary band Earth, Wind & Fire tonight (Saturday, second day of the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2025) here will give emphasis to the theme of love uniting people through music.

One of the band members, Timothy Tyrone Owen, said love in harmony brings timeless unity, and that is their aim at Sarawak’s 28th RWMF.

Legendary funk, soul and jazz band Earth, Wind & Fire is famous for their music and songs in the 80s and 90s such as Reasons, _Shining Star, After the Love Has Gone, Fantasy, Boogie Wonderland, Let’s Groove, among others.

They are poised to light up the stage at the RWMF, themed ‘One Earth, One Love’, delivering more than just iconic funk and soul.

The band’s past performances were invariably vibrant celebrations of love, peace and unity – echoing the festival’s global spirit.

Audiences from around the world here are in high expectation as they await their favourite 80s and 90s band to perform their timeless hits ring through the lush rainforest tonight.

“Music still holds the power to bridge cultures, generations, and hearts. In a world often divided, we are reminded that love, when carried through music, truly unites.

“We are more than just music; music is a universal language. You don’t need to understand every lyric to feel it in your soul. Just smile, and the rhythm will meet you where words fall short.

“It’s joy, groove, and unity wrapped in sound, a celebration that transcends language and speaks straight to the heart,” said Owen.

The 13-piece band has been in the industry since 1996, led by its original Earth, Wind and Fire guitarist, Al McKay, who put the band together.
