BALAI RINGIN: Education, cultural heritage, and unity are the cornerstones for strengthening and advancing rural communities, says Balai Ringin Assemblyman, Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

He urged rural students to stay focused on their studies, stressing that education is a vital foundation for building a brighter future.

“Education is the key to future success, while heritage and unity form the backbone of strength for rural communities.

“I urge all parties, including parents, teachers and the community to work together to help children gain better educational opportunities,” he said at an event here yesterday.

The Deputy Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister also highlighted the importance of preserving and upholding local cultural heritage as part of Sarawak’s identity, which should continue to be appreciated by the younger generation.

He said his ministry has allocated a special budget to organise various courses, workshops and classes related to local arts and culture to ensure these traditions remain vibrant and relevant amid modern development.

At the same time, he reminded the community to continue fostering harmony and unity at the village level, which serves as the foundation for shared wellbeing and progress.

He also urged residents to maintain a spirit of mutual assistance, respect one another and work together to ensure their villages remain peaceful, prosperous and harmonious.

During the event, Snowdan announced several community allocations, including the construction of a new Women’s Bureau kitchen, a contribution of RM3,000 to the Education Bureau, RM5,000 to the Women’s Bureau, as well as additional allocations for the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), which will be channelled early next year.
