KUCHING: Eight individuals were detained after testing positive for drugs during a raid at an entertainment centre in Padungan here yesterday (Monday, Feb 16).
Kuching police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) of the district police headquarters (IPD) conducted the operation at the premises.
He said a total of 21 individuals comprising men and women were inspected during the raid.
“Preliminary urine screening tests found eight individuals positive for drugs. They were detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a statement.
Alexson said police would continue monitoring and conducting enforcement operations at entertainment outlets to curb drug abuse activities.
He added that the Narcotics CID remained committed to combating drug-related offences to safeguard the community.
