Eight housing initiatives approved under Projek Rakyat

THE Sarawak Government has approved eight housing-related initiatives under the Projek Rakyat programme.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said that out of these, two projects have been completed involving the upgrading of infrastructure at Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) Tian and SPK Igan.

“Four projects are ongoing which include the construction of 62 units of Rumah Spektra Pertama (RSP) at SPK Santubong, 50 RSP units at both SPK Hulu Kabong and SPK Gedong, as well as earth works for SPS Banting Fasa 4 in Lawas.

“The remaining two projects are currently in the planning stage and to date, the total SRAS approved application is 5,652 involving an amount of RM28.4 million,” he said in his winding up speech at Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Tuesday.

Dr Sim, who is the Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister then stated that this year, Jawatankuasa Kelulusan Permohonan Skim Pinjaman Perumahan Untuk Golongan Berpendapatan Rendah (Rumah Panjang) has approved the implementation of 65 longhouses comprising 1,260 doors with total loan value of RM57.86 million.

“Since 2020, Sarawak Government has disbursed a total of RM232.05 million benefiting 343 longhouses consisting of 7,218 doors under the initiative,” he said.

Dr Sim also said that the state government has allocated RM96.811 million to Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) to implement 23 flood mitigation and urban drainage projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12 MP).

“Twenty-one projects are under various design stage and expected to be physically implemented in 2026.
