KUCHING: Members of the public are advised to take note of road closures for the coming Gawai Dayak Parade 2025, which will commence from Tun Jugah building to Kuching Waterfront this Saturday.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said eight roads will be closed off during rehearsal tomorrow (June 20) and on the day of the parade.
The affected roads are Sri Aman roundabout to the entrances of Jalan Padungan and Jalan Abell; Jalan Abell traffic light to Jalan Petanak; Jalan Padungan to Jalan Bukit Mata; Jalan Wawasan to Lebuh Wayang; Jalan Carpenter; Jalan Old Courthouse to Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang; and Jalan Gambit to Jalan Power.
“On Friday, the roads will be closed from 8 am until 12 pm to make way for rehearsals.
“Whereas, on the parade day itself, all of the affected roads will be closed from 8 am to 6 pm,” he said.
In light of this, Alexson urged the public not to park by the roadside and to plan their journey in advance, using alternative routes to minimise congestion.
