KUCHING: The Road Transport Department (RTD) seized eight vehicles, including three luxury cars, during ‘Ops Luxury’ and ‘Ops Gempur Kenderaan Perdagangan’ on Thursday (Feb 12).
The vehicles were impounded for having expired road tax and no valid insurance coverage.
RTD said enforcement was carried out through patrols and monitoring around the city, with static operations also mounted along Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha covering both directions.
In total, 598 vehicles comprising commercial and private vehicles were inspected during the operations.

Offences detected included driving without a valid licence, absence of a Goods Driving Licence (GDL), document falsification, and various technical violations involving vehicle condition and specifications.
“Enforcement would continue regardless of vehicle type and stressed that no compromise would be given to those who fail to comply with road laws,” the department said.
