SIBU: Eight shoplots collapsed along Jalan Pahlawan, Sungai Merah in the early hours today, but no injuries were reported.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received a call at 2.46am and personnel from the Sungai Merah station arrived at the scene six minutes later.
Operation commander PBK I Salaini Oda said the collapse involved a row of eight shop units.
“Upon arrival, we conducted a size-up together with the police to assess the situation and check whether there were any victims involved,” he said.
He added that surface searching was carried out at the site while police contacted the shop owners to confirm that no one was inside the premises during the incident.
Bomba confirmed that no victims were found trapped in the rubble.
The operation concluded at 3.50am after authorities ensured the area was safe.
The cause of the collapse and the extent of losses are still under investigation.
