BAU: A 78-year-old man was found dead behind his house here on Sunday evening (Feb 22) in a case classified as sudden death.
Bau police chief DSP Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the man was discovered at about 7.10pm by family members who had gone searching for him after he failed to return home.
He said the victim was found hanged from a rope believed to have been used for climbing a tree in a garden area behind the house.
“Upon reaching the garden area, family members noticed the victim hanged from a rope tied to the tree.
“They cut the rope and laid the victim on the ground before attempting emergency assistance. They later contacted Bau Hospital,” he said in a statement.
The victim was confirmed dead at about 8.59pm by medical personnel.
Mohd Haide said initial examination found no suspicious injuries and the case was classified as sudden death pending a post-mortem to determine the exact cause.
The body was sent to the Forensic Department of Bau Hospital for further action.
